Melior visit to the Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét
On 16th October a group of 40 people from Melior Laser took part in the factory tour in the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét (Hungary). There is a great interest for the two-hour factory visit, we begun to organise the excursion at the beginning of 2015 already with booking the date.
The program started in the visitor centre of the factory which opened in March 2012 and today employs 4000 people. We viewed two short films, the first one was an image film of Mercedes-Benz while the second introduced the history of the Kecskemét factory.
Our visitor guide then showed us around in the three main parts of the factory: the press, bodywork and assembly plants. Visitors are not allowed to the fourth plant unit, the painting plant as the technology requires the most pure environment. We could observe upclose how the Mercedes-Benz CLA- and B-class and CLA Shooting Brake launced in 2015 are prepared in the hand of the factory workers and the arms of the robots.

According to our guide a brand new car rolls out from the factory in less then every 2 minutes. First it is driven to a short test track then parked waiting for the train or the truck which delivers to a country somewhere in the world.
For us as a sheet metal fabrication supplier it was the most intertesting and useful experience to observe upclose the just-in-time system and the highly organised logistic processes.
