On 14th October a group of 50 people from Melior Laser took part in a visit to the Audi factory in Győr. We participated in a similar program a year ago when we went on a field trip to the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét, so with such experience behind our back we looked forward to the visit. There is a great public interest in this 2 hour long factory tour too, thus we started organizing the visit already in spring with reserving the date.
The lookaround started in the Audi Welcome center with viewing the Audi image film.
The production in Győr started in 1994 when the engine factory was opened and by now this factory unit has become of a strategic importance as almost the entire Audi engine range is manufactured here. In 1998 vehicle production was also launched with producing the various models of Audi TT. In December 2015 the 300 000th car rolled off the production line: a viper-green S3 Limuousine ordered in the USA. There are approx. 11 thousand people work in the engine and vechicle factories, in 3 shifts.
We learnt several interesting and useful information from our professional tour guides about the pressing machines, the marriage process (when chassis meets the body), the high-level automatisaton, the assebly production line and the meticulous process of quality control. At the test track we could experience what hundreds of horsepower can sound when an Audi TT RS stars.

For us, as a sheet metal fabrication supplier it was an extremely interesting and useful experience again to observe the highly organised logistics processes and the factory operation.
Colleagues' opinion was quite divided as to whether Mercedes or Audi factory has higher standards ...
