Melior above the clouds
On September 20th our team building event was in the spirit of flying; the main program of the afternoon was a nostalgic flight. At the Budaörs Airport we had a short sightseeing flight with the Li-2 aeroplane. The weather was perfect for flying, and we could admire the capital city below us in the bright sunshine. For many colleagues this was their first ascent and will certainly be a lasting experience for them.
The aircraft is owned by the Goldtimer Foundation and is stationed at Budaörs Airport. The Foundation's enthusiastic staff has renovated and almost completely rebuilt it. The colleauges of the Foundation gave a brief introduction to the airport and the aircraft.
The world's only Li-2 in operation was built in 1949 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, under a US DC-3 carrier aircraft license. Named after Boris Lisunov, Soviet aircraft engineer, aircraft designer.
The afternoon continued at the nearby Hacienda Beer Garden, where colleagues were able to report on their knowledge by completing a flight quiz. Thanks to the restaurant, we could vote for "The Melior Soup" from 3 kinds of soups. Choosing was perhaps even more challenging than flying, but the winner was as it turned out the Truffle Garlic Cream Soup.
