Development of UV disinfection equipment at Melior Laser
- Szili Erika
At our company, with the neccessary changes and appropriate precautions for the safety of those colleagues working in production (Life and work in a sheet metal fabrication plant during the COVID-19 virus outbreak blog entry), work continues at the time of the COVID-19 virus situation. Our latest exciting project is to participate in the development of an equipment for disinfecting rooms and objects with a UV-C light source.
The use of ultraviolet technology is already known in the field of disinfection. Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfectant method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UVC) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and breaking down their DNA. UVGI is used in various fields such as cleaning food, air and water.
Melior Laser is currently developing and manufacturing mechanical components for two different products . Both devices under development will work with such UV-C light and take advantage of the disinfecting effect of this light. One machine will be used to disinfect rooms, the other will be able to disinfect tools and objects with limited dimensions. This procedure used in healthcare, food industry and water treatments destroys microorganisms and prevents their growth.
Our task within the project is to design and manufactur the sheet metal fabricated parts of the equipments. This future product is suitable for alleviating the current viral infection and can be a solution in the fight against the virus, so it is extremely important to us.
