Manufacturing complex aluminium sheet metal fabricated parts - inverter housings

Perfection in focus: our complex aluminium sheet metal fabricated parts are currently manufactured in small series. However, we are making preparations for big series production with of production optimization and automation.

One of the biggest challenges we've had in recent weeks has been the production of aluminum inverter housings elements. This complex sheet metal part is still made in small batches, yet we have made use of all available technology to make it.
The interesting thing about the part is that it is not just a hexagonal box. Mounted, riveted and welded parts are in the walls of the enclosure, they are lined up according to the designs of an outside designer. Depending on the function of the units to be built in, these internal elements can provide support, cover and insulating functions.

The aluminum inverter housing's elements are made with laser cutting and punching . Their parts were machined on a CNC milling machine and then bent . The components were assembled and arcwelded. Prior to final assembly the parts were powder-painted.

Aesthetics was a very important aspect of our work. We wanted to accomplish this task with a quality that went beyond customer requirements.

This sheet metal fabrication project faces the future because it represents the level of complexity we have set out to achieve not only for small-scale production but also for larger series sizes. However, this requires production optimization of small series so that the houses can be produced in large series. All technological steps had to and must be realized within the ideal and economical boundaries of serial production.

This can be improved by our future automation enhancements. By automating technologies and the manufacturing process, we will have the technical level to build a broader portfolio of similarly complex units, even in the form of thousands of annual batches.
