Introduction of custom sheet metal part production projects for industrial engineers and purchasers

Melior sheet metal parts in super fast race cars

It has been 6 years since we helped the BME Formula Racing Team with sheet metal parts in their racing car construction projects, so they can successfully participate in the international Formula Student race series.

Our cooperation with the BME Formula Racing Team began in 2015, and since then we have continuously manufactured metal parts for the team that launches a new racing car model each year. The 2020 season was more or less off due to the situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic, but this year’s start was even more successful.

The team held a Rollout event at the Hungaroring 7th June, where students unveiled their electric and self-driving racing cars built for the 2021 race season.BME FRT 2021's new self-driving race car, Rozi The new self-driving car, “Rozi,” is a rebuilt version of last year’s electric race car . Since the races were missed last year, the team tested continuously at the Hungaroring in the summer and started rebuilding its electric car into a self-driving one from September with the installation of sensors and computers.

The engineering students designed a completely new frame geometry for their electric racing car, “Ajna,” for which a new chassis geometry was also designed.
Thus, the formula of each technology made of carbon composite frame is much narrower than before. It is a great achievement that for the first time in the team's history the car weighs less than 200kg (186kg), thanks to which the driving dynamics of the car also increased, the lateral acceleration data and the longitudinal accelerations also improved a lot.

Norbert Michelisz gave a spectacular demonstration of the electric formula car To close the rollout event, world champion touring car driver Norbert Michelisz gave a spectacular demonstration driving the electric formula car, which he said very positively after driving: even I am not necessarily accustomed to such forces.”

Bengegúz Madácsi, a member of the BME Formula Racing Team Chassis group, stated about the metal parts built into the electric and self-driving racing cars manufactured by Melior Laser and built for the 2021 race season: "There are countless parts we need to build our current cars, among other things, rocker brackets, shims and accelerator pedals, for which we have been grateful to Melior Laser Kft. We are also grateful to them for manufacturing the brake actuator bracket for our self-driving car."

With the two cars, the enthusiastic students will start in competing in the international Formula Student races for the rest of the year. We wish them a successful participation and we are proud of their success!
