One of our recent sheet metal processing projects was to manufacture the fixed and rotated parts of high power electric motors. The dynamo sheets are made of fully processed steel, so called electrical steel with guaranteed magnetic feature.
Some of the plates on the photos are made of 0,65 mm M350-65A steel, some made of M400 steel.
For 1-2 pcs of motors approx. 1000 pcs of rotated and fixed parts need to be cut. When fabricating such quantity laser cutting is more cost effective than punching because of eliminating the tooling cost. However, in this case it is extremely important that the cutting is done at the upper limit of laser cutting accuracy in order to meet the approx. +- 0,05 mm accuracy requirement from the customer.
